UCU commitment Uganda Christian University Libraries and Archives will publish only material that UCU owns, is authorised to use, is in the public domain, or is made available under a licence whose conditions UCU can meet. A URL, search result, social-media post, or online availability is not evidence that content may be copied.
Rights checks before publication Before publishing photographs, video, artwork, documents, logos, datasets, or other third-party content, staff must record the source, rights holder where known, licence or permission, required attribution, permitted use, restrictions, and expiry or review date. If a record is missing or uncertain, the content must not be newly published and should be restricted, replaced, or blurred pending review.
Creative Commons and open content UCU may reuse Creative Commons or public-domain material only in accordance with the specific licence. Attribution, licence links, modification notices, non-commercial limitations, no-derivatives limitations, and share-alike obligations must be respected. A Creative Commons licence does not apply to all internet content.
UCU-owned material Unless a page states otherwise, UCU website content remains protected. Visitors may view and use material for lawful personal, educational, or authorised purposes but may not reproduce, publish, scrape, train systems on, sell, remove attribution from, or use it maliciously without permission or another lawful basis.
AI, scraping and malicious use Automated harvesting, bulk downloading, impersonation, deceptive use of images, removal of attribution, and attempts to bypass technical controls are prohibited. UCU may use access controls, image protection, watermarks, logging, takedown processes, and other proportionate measures.
Takedown and correction Anyone who believes content lacks authority, infringes rights, or should be restricted may use the Content Takedown, Complaints & Appeals page. UCU may temporarily restrict material while it verifies the claim.
