Good writing looks different across disciplines. A lab report, policy brief, sermon reflection, business proposal, and engineering data sheet do not ask the writer to make the same moves. The UCU Writing Centre helps writers understand the expectations of their field.

Scientific and technical writing
Students can receive support with lab report structure, methods and findings sections, data commentary, figure captions, engineering calculations, technical explanations, and the difference between reporting results and interpreting them.

Business, law, education, and humanities writing
Mentors help writers shape proposals, reflective essays, case analysis, legal arguments, literature reviews, policy writing, theological reflection, and education assignments with clear purpose and audience awareness.

What makes the session useful
The most useful sessions focus on the writer’s discipline, assignment purpose, evidence, audience, and next revision step. Students are encouraged to bring course instructions, rubrics, data, readings, or supervisor comments.
